Manga Review : Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

So,
I read the amazing manga of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood writen by Hiromu Arakawa.
And i must say that this is definately oe of the best manag's out there.

Story : The story is basically the tale of 2 brothers, Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric, who after performing a forbidding type of Alchemy called Human Transmutation to bring their dead mother back to life. They end-up not only failing to bring their mother back to life but also sacrificing their bodies, Ed losing his arm and leg, whilst his brother Al is locked to a suit of armor.
The story of Fullmetal Alchemist is rich, full of brilliant themes and ideas. The whole story is essentially a journey to reclaim what has been lost and a chance at redemption . Everything about the plot  is almost flawless, the ending is absolutely spectacular leaving absolutely no plot holes.

Art : the art is simplistic, yet captivating. I absolutely loved the art style, i found it very re-refreshing and the character designs were amazing.

Character : With every character that is introduced, Arakawa has never failed to surprise me. Fullmetal's characters are some of the most well-developed characters I have ever come across. Their personalities are unique and effective to other characters and the plot, and their pasts are explored with such detail and emotion that the characters alone could keep me dedicated to this series.

Overall :  This series is definitely worth my time and money, and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Manga

I wanted to address the students and maybe educate them about "MANGA"
Well if you search google for "manga" the first thing u will see is
'manga's are Japanese comics or comics written in Japanese language.'
But i like to it is more than that
manga's arn't just comics or comics in Japanese language they are
A BIG part of japans culture.
In Japan, people of all ages read manga.
The medium includes works in a broad range of genres: action-adventure, business/commerce, comedy, detective, historical drama, horror, mystery, romance, science fiction and fantasy, sports and games, and suspense, among others.
Although this form of entertainment originated in Japan, many manga are translated into other languages, mainly English.
Some popular ones being "Death Note" , "Full Metal Alcamest Brotherhood", "Naruto"
and some of our childhood favourites like "Shin Chan" or even "Dragon Ball Z" all originated from manga's.

Now, Thomas and the rest of the gladers(people living there) have only one objective, to find a way out.But on the next day a mysterious girl suddenly appears who somehow knows only one name, Thomas who has no memory of her.
They must work together to find an escape while fending off the constant attacks from the monstrous creatures that dwell in the depths of the maze.

What our library council is

A library- a room overflowing with boundless ideas and opportunities. Today, in 2015, in the age of distractions, it is very difficult to inculcate in a growing child the habit of reading. Competing with TVs, MP3 players, playstations and the vastness of the internet, the task of showing teenagers the merits of reading is not an easy one. This task has been undertaken by the library council of our school, the brainchild of our principal sir. Nowadays, we lead such high-stress lives that the concept of spending time with yourself has long been forgotten. All our library council is trying to do is to revive that. By visiting the library of the british embassy, library of the american embassy, the delhi public library and the library of the G D Goenka University, we have gained alot of exposure and now recognize the library as not only a room full of books, but as an adobe of knowledge. Our aim is to transport people from this real world to aworld of fantasy, by not only promoting fictional books but also biographies and autobiographies. We want to foster a lifelong interest in books and reading for all. We want to foster a bright future for all.

Excursion to GDGU and World Institute

Students of the library council and other clubs were taken to GDGU and world institute. After arriving all the groups were assembled in the lecture hall. They were taken to  workshops related to their respective clubs. The library council visited the library of the university wing  as well as the world institute. The students took note of how they catalogue and arrange books. They were given a tutorial on the technical side of management of books. The tutorial was very informative. They also had a custom made search system for e-books. The council always appreciates these trips as they are enlightening and help us improve our own library and give ideas to get other students to start reading .Library is not just a store of books, it’s a centre of knowledge. It was a wonderful experience which helped the students gather a lot of knowledge and took their interest to a next level.

The Great Uniform Debate

It feels that wearing a school uniform takes out the unique and individual factor from the students. We aren't able to express ourselves through our clothing. At the same time, school uniform promotes equality and a sense of belonging among us. It helps us all to unite as one and strengthen our school spirit. Also, if we were to not have school uniforms a lot of discrimination would take place. Students would bother more about the brand and spend a useless amount of time picking out their outfit for the next day instead of concentrating on their homework, books and grades.
The idea of "fitting into" the social norms would occupy the students minds and take out their individuality, as they'd like to dress like their peers. The situation is quite ironic; I feel that we're privileged to have school uniforms as our time is never wasted in trying to impress other students by flaunting or bragging about new clothes etcetera.
I strongly recommend the students who oppose school uniforms to see it in a different way. The pros of uniforms are clearly more than the cons. The school facilitates us with these uniforms for the main reason being equality among students, which would not exist if we were to dress ourselves on our own. Expressing ourselves should not stop us from being unique and intelligent individuals.
A uniform that I would not mind wearing would be something not too expressive but not too plain at the same time. Something that collaborates with the professions of the world so it makes us look smart and feel confident. Our winter uniform is a perfect example for me as it is not too over the top or too out of the box and at the same time, neither is it in the 'plain-Jane' category. Also as a girl I feel that shorts or pants would be more comfortable for the students as it will not constrict them to one single and uncomfortable option. In conclusion I would say, that uniforms are a form of symbolism and help maintain the balance among students.

BOOK REVIEW

BOOK: For God's Sake
AUTHOR: Ambi Parameswaran
WRITTEN BY: Maahi S. Kumar

Why do most indians in office have a ganeshji screensaver? Why are most actresses in the saas-bahu hindi shows wearing jeans and a tank top rather than a sari and a bindi? Why is the concept of the big fat indian wedding deteriorating? Is it just that we are evolving and simply learning from the west or is it that we are losing our culture? Ambi Parameswaran explains all this in a tongue-in-cheek manner in his book 'for god's sake'. He tries to explain to the young generation of today how along with being influenced by the west in a healthy manner, we are ,infact, losing what was ours. We are losing the reasons our country was among the top 5 most visited countries in the world. This book is writen in very simple language and is meant not to be theoretical book but actually a book you would love to read at the dead of night.

READING

These days if you go up to people who don't read books and ask them to, they'd be less inclined to do so. However, if one ever does start reading, it is almost impossible to stop. Once you find the right book for yourself, and get into it, you cannot stop.

When I was eleven, I started reading Harry Potter and my life changed. Once I opened the book, the real world didn't exist anymore. All that mattered was magic, spells and everything of the sort. I didn't need anyone or anything to keep me occupied anymore. The feeling I get when I read any book is inexplicable. I can forget about all my worries and problems and just read.

Reading is not only extremely captivating, but also improves your grammar and vocabulary, which is extremely essential these days.

Reading non-fictional books like biographies increase our knowledge and keep us well informed.
Reading is not like studying; you don't need to mug up or learn anything. Reading is like watching a movie, except it is playing in your head.

Whilst reading fictional books, you get transported to another world. The characters become your friends and honestly, who needs real people anyway?

Also, the world books create is honestly better than the one we live in.
